About Eric van Beek and Handshake Speakeasy

Born & raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Eric van Beek started in hospitality at the age of 25. Starting relatively late, Eric was able to grow and gain success quickly in the international bar and cocktail world. Winning Bacardi Legacy Global Winner in 2018, and being rewarded in 2018, 2019 for running the most creative
cocktail program in the Netherlands.

In late 2019 Eric moved to Mexico City where he opened Brujas  which was quickly nominated by Tales of the Cocktail for Best New Internal Cocktail Bar opening.

Along with partners Marcos Di Battista and Rodrigo Urraca, they opened Handshake Speakeasy in April of 2021 which arguably runs the most innovative cocktail program in Mexico City, and selected as No.1 in the world by The World ́s 50 Best Bars awards.

About Jeff Savage and Prophecy

Jeff Savage was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Through his early life, Jeff was deeply influenced by the tenacity and dedication of his father, who owned and operated a small independent business – as well as his mother, who worked both with his father and as a catering chef. Jeff’s deeply imbued love of hospitality has been informed by the abundance of community service and regular house parties his parents threw for the people they loved. Jeff left Calgary the day after his 19 th birthday to go explore the world.

When he returned to study at the University of Alberta, instead of re-signing his contract with the university sustainability office, he walked down the street and secured himself a job as the opening bartender at an upstart new neighborhood bar in Edmonton and, from there, Jeff’s passion for a longstanding career behind the bar had cemented itself.

After 5 years at Three Boars in Edmonton, Jeff also worked at Proof Cocktail Bar and Deane House in Calgary, before heading West to Vancouver and beginning his period of high accolades after taking a position at Botanist Bar, which netted Jeff the 2019-20 Canada’s 50 Best Best Bartender Award, 2022 MICHELIN Exceptional Cocktails Award, and he oversaw Botanist being recognized on both Canada’s 50 Best Bars and the World’s 50 Best Bars lists.

He also runs his own consultancy called Father of Cups. Other awards include: 2022 Vancouver Magazine Bartender of the Year, 2019 World Class Canada Bartender of the Year and Global Runner up, 2019 Bols Around The World World’s Best Bar Team, 2018 National Finalist for Bacardi Legacy and Most Imaginative Bartender, 2016 Calgary’s Best Bartender
